Jewelry from Petsamo

Trade has always been done everywhere. Already thousands of years ago, new phenomena, styles and goods that were born in cultural centers spread far from their places of origin during the journey of merchants. In the northernmost regions of Europe, Koltna women have been pioneers in the use of earrings. In past centuries, they wore earrings decorated with colorful glass and silver beads, which they received from merchants from the East. The prototype of this piece of jewelery is from Suonikylä in Petsamo. The shape and structure of the jewelry go back to Byzantium in the first centuries of our era.
