The pole star
In the Pohjantähti jewelry series designed by Kirsti Doukas, the jewelry made of gold and white gold forms a dialogue between Finnish summer and winter. The brilliant diamonds in white gold bring to mind the sparkling snow crystals and ice on top of the hankies. The red garnets of the gold jewelry glow with the warmth of the short summer in North America. The North Star is part of the Ursa Minor constellation. It is said to be the brightest star in Ursa Minor, which always stays in the same place in the sky. In the northern hemisphere, ancient times have been navigated with the help of the North Star, which has shown the way.
