Ring from Perniö
Find something you lost a thousand years ago. This ring brings a message from the era of the Crusades, a time when similar wide shield-like rings were worn throughout the Baltic region. The ring, found in Perniö in Southwestern Finland, bears evidence of close interaction between ancient Finns and their neighbouring peoples. Village blacksmiths interpreted foreign influences in original ways, and the beauty of their creations, full of primitive strength, still speaks to us.
