Sorgente
Jewelry artist and sculptor Björn Weckström, the internationally best-known Finnish jewelry designer, combines materials boldly and open-mindedly. In the early 1970s, he designed jewelry combining silver with clear acrylic. At the time, the combination of cheap plastic and precious metals raised a few eyebrows, but today, the silver-acrylic jewelry is considered to be a milestone of modern jewelry design. In the Sorgente earrings, designed by Björn Weckström in the late 1980s, silver is combined with crystal clear acrylic, reminiscent of ice and pure spring water. Sorgente is Italian for fountain.
