Twinflower, Linnaea borealis, is the delicate flower of lush spruce forests. The slender plant hugs the velvet moss, pushing up stems, one after another, bearing pairs of gentle bell-like flowers. The timid twinflower is the shy beauty of the Finnish forest.
The beloved poem ‘Nocturne’ by Eino Leino (1878-1926), one of Finland’s most notable writers, whispers the timeless message of summer nights in Finland, describing the scent of twinflower and shadows of water, elements of the heart’s song. These lines by young Eino Leino inspired jewellery designer Kirsti Doukas, and the pearls in her Twinflower jewelry capture the essential charm of the delicate twinflower.
